Sharon's Pond

This is a 9" x 12" oil on gessoed mdf board
painted in a plein air session last Friday.
It was a challenge to make a lot of green look
interesting, so I bumped up the reds, purples and
yellows to create a little more interest.
Trying to get loose with this one.

Christmas Cactus

This is a quick still life study for a session and
it's on gessoed MDF board. That's a little different from
masonite and it's very sturdy. Once gessoed, it's very
firm and has a good texture. No warping at all.
More landscapes to follow after this one.

Fishing The Arkansas

I live near the Arkansas River in Tulsa and on one of my
regular walks, I took my camera for some photos to use
for reference for paintings. I found this guy fishing off the
edge of the walkway around the fountain and thought
it would make a great study for water as well as a human
form. It's larger than I normally work ( 14" x 18").

Outdoor Still Life

Here's a quick painting done outdoors,
with a few modifications from the actual images.
I didn't finish before coming back to the studio
and decided to do so only after the painting
had dried and I worked from memory.
Which, in my case, is a mistake most of the time.

This is a quick study that I had posted before but
decided a background color change was in order.
I've added some stronger color to the whole painting
to give it more depth.

Clay Jar With River Rock

This is a quick still life study, 8" x 10" on
a gessoed board. It's in oil as well.
I haven't done many still life paintings
lately and this one felt good while painting.
I experimented with using MDF board
instead of masonite. It's a little rougher
in texture but the material has a great surface.
It's easier to cut than masonite but heavier.
Best for use on small paintings.

Glenview Stables

This is another painting from the day spent
at Glenview Farms just outside of Tulsa.
It's on the main road going into the
farm and these are the outbuildings just
before going into the expanse of open
farmland.
It's oil on board
