Will

A portrait of my grandson. This has a few

touchups I'd like to make but for the most part,

it's done. It's a 16" x 20" oil on stretched

canvas. Hope the little guy likes it. He's

definitely one of a kind. Smart, considerate

and full of imagination.

Demonstration

This painting was painted in a class situation with

using a strong pink underpainting. I wanted to show

how the object and surroundings would look with

the pink helping the color saturation. I left some of

the pink underpainting showing around the edges

to be able to see the effect. It's a simple apple

with highlights and this took about a half hour. It's

oil on canvas paper pad and the oil paint was applied

in a very thin wash with the highlight colors

being a bit thicker.

About 7" x 7".

Still Life Study

This was painted in class this morning as

a demo. "Think Masses" was the mantra when

I started this and it moved rather quickly.

Just a highlight here and there after blocking

in the larger areas. Oil on canvas paper pad

11" x 14".

Tulsa Botanical Garden

I spent the afternoon on a beautiful

Saturday on the grounds of the Tulsa

Botanical Gardens, which is an ongoing

development at the moment. When

completed, it should be a showcase of

the natural beauty of Oklahoma in

the Osage hills north of the city.

This is an oil on board, 11" x 14".

I plan to paint at least a half dozen images

on that location through the summer.

18th & Cincinnati, Tulsa.

Here's an oil that I actually started and posted

earlier..some time ago, actually. I found a nice frame

and added some more detail into the painting

itself and it will be exhibited at the Tulsa International

Mayfest Invitational Gallery in late May. Another

landscape will accompany it and will be posted

when framed.

Woodward Park Bridge

Took the easel to the park last Saturday. There

were more people there than the Super Bowl.

Lots of high school seniors in their formals for

prom night but first a photo taken while standing

on this bridge. Can't forget the young lady who

wore a bright lemon yellow full length formal

that was intense in the afternoon sun. And

her date had the same color tie with his tux.

Sharon At The Easel

This is a 20" x 24" oil on stretched

canvas portrait of an artist friend of

mine, Sharon, who takes a painting lesson

most every week. She kindly posed for this

portrait to help me build up samples

of my portrait style.

*Note: I've just received word that this fine lady,
Sharon Saied passed away on the 15th of 
August, 2012. 
Sharon had been sick for a while and still
continued to paint and create beautiful images.
She was an incredible soul who always looked
on the bright side of things. Never thinking of
herself, always others first. There's a lesson
there for us all. She'll be missed, to be sure.
