Sedan Lake Evening

This is an 11" x 14" oil on linen covered board of a small lake
north of Sedan Kansas. It's the old municipal lake..I think there
are some pretty big creatures swimming just under the surface.
It's the location of a retreat that I try to make in the fall each
year but haven't been able to make it lately.

Cain's Ballroom

This is a 16"x 20" oil on canvas covered board painting
of an iconic location in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys
played here many years ago along with other famous bands
and entertainers. It's still going strong and has been renovated. Tulsa
has a long and strong tradition in the music industry.

Illinois River Above Tahlequah

This painting is a scene about 20 miles north of Tahlequah,
Oklahoma and a location utilized quite a bit by the students
of Northeastern State University for recreation in warm
weather. Also, in summer this river sees quite a few canoes
and kayaks passing through this area. This is oil on
canvas, 11" x 14".

Ellis Square, Savannah, Georgia.

Got out the water color set while on vacation
and painted this scene while sitting in Ellis Square in
Savannah, Georgia. Love those palmetto trees
along the streets there. This was painted on a
9" x 12" size piece of bristol board with gouache.

Inland Waterway Marina, Savannah, Georgia

This small store and seafood place were alongside a marina
that specialized in deep sea fishing ventures. Located east of
Savannah on the highway to Tybee Island. Hot day that day.
This is 18" x 24" oil on board.

Buffalo on the Tallgrass Preserve in Oklahoma

This scene was painted after a photoshoot north of
Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the "entrance" to the tallgrass preserve, which
is a large land area that pretty much looks like Oklahoma prior
to statehood at the turn of the last century. Of course, there
have been changes such as fencing, etc..

Tybee Island Shell Hunt

This was painted after returning from Savannah, Georgia and Tybee Island
Beach. Saw a brother and sister digging for shells and thought it
would make a nice study.

Tulsa Rose Garden Spring

This is a 9" x 12" oil on masonite painting of the Tulsa Rose
Garden during first blooms of the roses. In reality, the roses
aren't out yet but will be very soon. If we can just break
out of winter!

Hudson Meadors

This is a 16" x 20" portrait painted in gouache water color
on a slick plate bristol paper. Matted and framed under glass.
This was a quick study of a friend of mine whose a very unique
individual. A true gentleman.

Crow Creek at Philbrook 2

This was painted as a demo for the Alpha Rho Tau arts group
in Tulsa. It was painted in a little over an hour and touched up
with some highlights in the studio after the meeting ended. It's
oil on Luan board, 16" x 20".

Crow Creek at Philbrook

This is an early morning view of Crow Creek on the grounds at Phibrook Museum of Art
in Tulsa. It's painted entirely with a palette knife on stretched canvas. 16" x 20" size.

Riverparks at 23rd Street Bridge, Tulsa

This is a 12" x 16" oil on board painting of

the Riverparks area of Tulsa, Oklahoma, looking

south. Painted at Springfest at the Tulsa

Garden Center last weekend.

Philbrook, Plein Air.

This was painted on site in acrylics on an

8 1/2" x 11" piece of gessoed masonite.

On May 8, I'll again be in the back yard of this

classic building painting for the week in

preparation of a Saturday show at

Philbrook in conjunction with the Oklahoma

Society of Impressionists.

Silver Teapot Still Life

This is a small 8" x 10" exercise in oil on

masonite. Simple still life images can

be a lot of fun and this one is no exception.

Daffodil Still Life

Another 9" x 12" oil on board for a class

session. Painted from life in the studio. With

all the flowers coming out now, it's a good

time to do some still life painting.

Garden Center Magnolia Tree

This is a 9" x 12" oil on masonite board

of the magnolia alongside the driveway at

the Tulsa Garden Center. Painted this

afternoon for an exercise.

Sedan Lake Morning

Oil, 9" x 12" on gessoed masonite. This is the second time

I've painted this scene but with a little more technique added

to it this time. Sedan, Kansas by the lake.

Woodward Park in Black and White

Every now and then, it's good to go back over

what you know and do a little refresher exercise, such

as a study in values. I had an image I wanted to paint

and since there were so many trees and dappled

light, I thought it would be a good image to practice

my sense of values before going on to the color version.

This helps to see where your darks and lights should

be, respectively. This is Woodward Park on a summer

day when visiting with my son and his daughter Claire.

Nice place to go feed the squirrels. Oils on masonite

11" x 14".

Bar Harbor Docks

This is oil on masonite, 9" x 12".

It's a scene on a sunny day in

Bar Harbor, Maine. I painted this

scene from a photo provided to me

by the person who took it while on

vacation. It's one of the most painted

and photographed areas on the

east coast. I'd love to see this for

myself because painting from life

would be much better than working

from a photo but I have to say

this one was fun.

Hillside Grazers

This is a painting of two horses having a leisure

time just west of Fayetteville, Arkansas last fall.

No human prompting could dissuade them from

the grass directly under them.

It's oil on masonite, 9" x 12" and hopefully

will grace a wall in Austin, Texas soon.
