I had some good shots of ducks to work from but this is it for the ducks. It's good practice for painting water, though. But time to move on to boats or something else.... This is 8"x10", oil on gessoed masonite.
My father-in-law is an avid gardener and this was painted at the close of day in a very quick plein air exercise. He lives in in Fayetteville, Arkansas and I think that wheelbarrow is getting ready to be dusted off once again very soon with more activity.
When teaching a beginning or intermediate class, I like to do a simple image demonstration to show how I work and how quickly you can create an image by using under paintings. A simple pear and apple can be very basic, or complicated depending on your point of view and also the amount of detail included in the painting. These two images took about 20 minutes each to complete and are 8"x 10" oil on panel.
